Timothy Segers, Guy Vandenbranden

Opening ‘Timothy Segers. Tribute to Guy Vandenbranden’

Callewaert-Vanlangendonck hosts during the Antwerp Art Weekend a show of contemporary artist Timothy Segers. He will pay tribute to Guy Vandenbranden, a major Belgian constructivist who was active in the fifties and sixties. Segers will place his sculptures into dialogue with paintings by Vandenbranden. The gallery also publishes an edition (lino on 25 copies) by Timothy Segers for this occasion.

Timothy Segers (1983) was discovered by painter Luc Tuymans who selected him for The Gap, a major group show on Belgian Abstract Art which went on display in London (Parasol Unite Foundation of Contemporary Art) and Antwerp (M HKA) in 2015. Segers works with large round forms that arise from a flat surface. His spatial work is attached to the wall with magnets or takes up the space with large object, seeming to express the movement of wind.

Guy Vandenbranden and Timothy Segers will also be exhibited at the new art space of Callewaert-Vanlangendonck, Sint-Jacobstraat 17, 2000 Antwerp (open from 18 May 2017 on).
