BORGER

The Borgerhout area of Antwerp hosts a fast-growing, avant-gardistic and dynamic art scene. The tri-annual Friday-night openings dubbed Borger offer an alternative yet complementary program to the Nocturne, further cementing Antwerps reputation as epicentre of contemporary art. Borger takes place three times a year in galleries and art spaces in the Borgerhout, Zurenborg and Berchem areas.

 

Nocturne

The renowned Nocturnes are a series of recurring, simultaneous Thursday-night openings hosted by a collective of established Antwerp Art galleries. Nocturne takes place every six weeks in galleries, museums and art spaces in the Zuid area of Antwerp.

Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin (1957–2007) was fascinated by the difference between the promise of something and its banal reality. 'Democratic Luxury' aims to take us deeper into the thought-processes of the exhibited works through the inclusion of a selection of studies, drawings and notes from the Alptekin archive.
